hobo and grizz spot an electric scooter...

Hobo and I had a quick bite to eat today enjoying the great weather we are getting her in the California Central Coast, and talking about the endless election we are dealing with...when suddenly something far more interesting caught our attention.

Check out this little electric scooter that was piloted around Goleta by Frank and his little dog. A 3 wheel electric scooter that goes 50 miles on less than 20 cents of electricity! www.palmerind.com

This other devise that looks like something out of the Jetsons was shot by Dan in Cayucas and is a Gizmo, which was built in the 1990's. An Oregon company tried to market them but was unsuccessful. They are as fast as a car and go about 60 miles on a charge!

A+ for most creative use of a plastic bag...

From Wooster Street Collective... "dogs" made from plastic bags that are attached to subway grates.  When a train passes underneath, voila!

the start of something new... simple (hearts)

Box_car_hop

Here at Simple, we have the pleasure of meeting all kinds of people... from leather suppliers to coworkers' kids-- we've got a lot of people that cruise through the office.  And now, instead of keeping these people all to ourselves, we're going to share... simple (hearts).  And to kick this off, I interviewed Dan Price, our hobo pal.

welcome to the team, gavin...

Gavin

this just in from our new sales rep in texas... out on one of his first longer trips in his new territory:

My first long trip I went up through Oklahoma City and into Northwest Arkansas.  I left Austin on a nice warm Sunday and thought my hotel was in Oklahoma City.  Turns out the hotel I booked was in Moore, and when I got there (with my bag packed for a SoCal roadtrip, t shirts, jeans and sandals) it started raining then snowing and then there was a tornado warning and I freaked out and ran to the front desk to ask for proper Tornado evacuation procedure.  To make a long story short I found out the next day that Moore is tornado alley (not staying there again).

simple hearts sxsw

For those of you lucky enough to make it to SXSW, you should SERIOUSLY consider dropping by Emo's to check out a showcase we're sponsoring.  While I'll admit I am kicking stones (and my desk) for not being able to make it out there, I'm tickled since one of the bands in the showcase is my absolute favorite band of the month-- High Places.  Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll get an autographed cat poster from them.  Kidding!  I'm posting links to the bands that I love below the link if you want to give them a listen.

1 step forward, 5 steps back

I am not rich by any means, and I hate sticking up for them...but I dislike it more when those on the side of a cause worsen it with radicalism.

Apparently some "eco revolutionaires" or "eco terrorists" (depending on who you ask) decided to burn down some mansions as a way to make a statement to the world that we should consume less.

A good point until you start burning things down, and endangering people, wildlife, and causing who knows how much carbon.  All this accomplishes is the tarnishing of the environmental movemnt.

Thanks to the ELF for making it so that the next time I am chat with my old-school father about the environment, he'll bring up this lousy incident and how the environmental movement is full of nut-jobs.

Granted the media could cover Climate Change, Global Warming, etc more (And actually bring it up during one of the thousands of debates we have been hearing about for months now)...but no, not today.

All the regular folks are going to be hearing about today is how some jerks burnt down some jerks mansion. weaksauce man.
