THE CARBON ZERO PROJECT!

Okee, dokee peeps, hang on to yer thongs cause the hobos goin off again. Last week he pulled his 2nd best friend, little van , into the back yard of Lynne's place, set it up as an alternative sleeping area and hung the keys up for one full year! It does sound crazy, but the Hobo has deep seated values about certain things and has pledged to only use bikes, his feet and mass transit for the next year. Yahoo! Somebodys got to make a stand against all this crazy global warming, right? Check out his Flickr page (above) for photos showing him tuning up his 3rd best friend, (opps he's forgetting his kids and the folks at simple) that three wheeled contraption he rode down to Florida a few years back. He says he's going to be riding it all over the place and plans on getting such huge thighs that he'll have ta git new drawers come next summer! Heh. Heh. He says he's doing this to set an example for all us lazy humans who think that riding bikes is for kids and who jump in their cars just to go get a jug of milk. Let's all get out there and try to do what we can to minimalize our carbon footprint, okay? EDITORS

WHAT A CRAZY RIDE THIS HAS BEEN

Jees, you know, usually when i drive across the continent it takes so long that i just zoom back home in the shortest time posssible. But this time a window opened up and we got to go up to Maine to meet up with my publisher to discuss future book contracts, stop in New Hamshire to see the cool people that make the Nemo tents and then go over to Michigan to visit with my old buddies who run a trike company. All these people are doing such great things and its a real joy to say hi and catch up on their latest dreams. John at Cider Mill Press is living out his dream of owning a small book publishing house to make the books he believes in. Cam and the little crew at www.nemoequipment.com have been developing a whole new concept in tent design that put the regular "tent pole configuration" for outdoor tents to shame, and the folks at www.wizwheelz.com continue to create the most amazing three wheeled riding machines ever seen. And now they are even in discussion about making a film about people who have stepped out of the norm and are doing good things in the world. So we had lots to talk about. And Lynne and i took an amazing test ride down the many bike trails here in Grand Rapids while we were there. Its been a real eye opening trip for us too. We are spending alot of time in the van driving and are talking about what we could do to make our relationship better. And we are talking about parking the van when we get home and embarking on a one-year CARBON FREE PROJECT, to see just how little carbon we can spew when we put our minds to only riding bikes and trikes, walking and using mass transit. The results will all be published in the next 6 issues of the Moonlight Chronicles so check them out to see how we faired. We would like to set a good example for our fellow human beans here on the only planet we share. What are you going to do to help the planet? HOBO
